Description: Sergeant Howard and Police Officer Matthew Baxter were shot and killed while responding to reports of suspicious people in the area. The officers were speaking to the men when a scuffle ensued and both officers were shot. Both officers were transported to the hospital where Officer Baxter was pronounced dead and Sergeant Howard succumbed to his injuries the following afternoon. The suspect was taken into custody.
