Description: Detective Hearne was ambushed and shot as she responded as backup to assist another officer in recovering a stolen vehicle. The other officer was questioning two individuals as Detective Hearne arrived on scene and as she approached the back of the vehicle a male suspect produced a handgun and opened fire on the officers. Detective Hearne was fatally shot and the second officer was wounded. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with murder.
