Description: Trooper Hewitt was struck and killed while his partner was issuing a traffic violation. Trooper Hewitt was standing near his patrol car when two trucks collided. The gravel truck sideswiped a light delivery truck, causing it to spin out of control and into Trooper Hewitt, who was thrown 20 feet and died instantly. The two truck drivers were arrested for driving to endanger. The driver of the vehicle which struck and killed Trooper Hewitt was also charged with manslaughter.
