Description: Sergeant Hershey and Trooper Thomas were standing outside their patrol cars processing a minor traffic accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Another passing vehicle spun out of control on an icy patch and struck both officers. Sergeant Hershey was killed instantly. Trooper Thomas suffered minor injuries.
