Description: Correctional Officer Herron was stabbed to death after stopping to assist a disabled motorist while en route to work. Officer Herron was in full uniform when he exited his personal vehicle to aid the motorist along Highway 11 in Pendleton, Oregon. The motorist suddenly ambushed Officer Herron stabbing him numerous times. The suspect stole Officer Herron??®s vehicle and fled the scene. Officer Herron was able to call for help and was transported to a nearby hospital where he died early the next morning. The suspect was later apprehended.
