Description: Deputy Halpin and Federal Agent Charles Bintliff were shot and killed near Redfield, South Dakota, as they attempted to arrest a man wanted for wounding an officer and bootlegging. The suspect murdered both officers and fled. The suspect barricaded himself and committed suicide as a posse of 400 surrounded the building.
