Description: Patrolman Holt and Officer William McCutcheon were both wounded as they pursued a suspicious individual. Patrolman Holt was shot in the head and shoulder. Officer McCutcheon was shot in the arm, hip and foot. Patrolman Holt died the next day. Officer McCutcheon recovered. The suspects fled but were caught by law enforcement. Both suspects received life sentences but were later pardoned in 1945 and 1959, respectively. The suspects were members of a hold-up gang who were involved in the murder of Muncie, Indiana Patrolman James McCracken.
