Description: Deputy Hodges was fatally shot by a man as he escorted a suspect to jail. Deputy Hodges had arrested the suspect on a charge of peddling whiskey when a friend of the suspect approached and demanded his release. Deputy Hodges refused and continued on. The man went home, retrieved a Winchester rifle, approached Deputy Hodges a second time and shot him in the chest.
