Description: Constable Hays was shot as he and Deputy Constable Sid Keasler went to a farm to serve an arrest warrant. As Constable Hays and his deputy transported the suspect back to town, they were approached by the brother of the suspect who fatally shot Constable Hays. The man was arrested and jailed, but an angry mob lynched him later that evening.
