Description: Officer Hammond and his partner were flagged down by a citizen who told them a man with a shotgun had threatened him. When the officers arrived at the scene, they ordered the man to drop his weapon. The man responded by firing at the officers. Officer Hammond was shot in the face and died at the scene. Officer Bill Bandy returned fire, killing the suspect.
