Description: Lieutenant Horton was shot as he attempted to arrest a gang of jewelry thieves. Lieutenant Horton jumped on the running board of the moving vehicle and fired several shots, killing one of the bandits and wounding a second. Lieutenant Horton was shot in the chest and died of his injuries the next day. Three suspects were arrested and charged with murder.
