Description: Officer Hennessey responded with fellow officers to a shots fired call. When the officers arrived at the scene, they pursed several suspects on foot but were unable to find the suspect with the gun. As the officers returned to their patrol vehicles, Officer Hennessey collapsed. Officer Hennessey was transported to the hospital and treated for cardiopulmonary arrest. He was stabilized and transferred the next morning to another facility for surgery. Officer Hennessey died approximately 20 minutes into the surgery due to a heart attack. It was not known until the autopsy was performed that Officer Hennessey had a congenital brain aneurysm. The subarachnoid hemorrhage due to a ruptured saccular aneurysm occurred prior to the surgery performed.
