Description: Keeper Haight was fatally poisoned by an inmate who then made his escape from the Michigan State Prison. Keeper Haight drank a beverage, which was laced with prussic acid, that the inmate had served to him as part of his meal. Keeper Haight collapsed at his post and died shortly after. The inmate escaped but was captured two days later. The inmate was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
