Description: Patrolman Hamilton was shot and killed as he and a trooper conducted an investigation of a stolen utility vehicle. As officers approached the residence regarding the stolen vehicle, they spotted a suspicious vehicle with three occupants. The trooper spoke with the individuals in the car, and Patrolman Hamilton knocked on the door of the residence attempting to make contact with the homeowner. Patrolman Hamilton observed footprints in the snow leaving the back yard of the home, went to investigate, and was met by gunfire. Officer Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was taken into custody.
