Description: On June 11, 2014, Police Officer Hewell succumbed to injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash two weeks earlier as he and his partner responded to back up another officer who was engaged in an arrest of a shooting suspect. Officer Hewell was treated and released from the hospital. While recovering at home, Officer Hewell died from a pulmonary embolism related to the automobile crash.
