Description: Detective Hobbs was shot while attempting to apprehend a felony suspect. When the suspect saw the detective approaching, he fled in his vehicle before crashing into a residence. The suspect then fled on foot, shooting at the detectives in pursuit. Detective Hobbs was able to return fire and fatally shoot the suspect before he was struck. Detective Hobbs and his partner were transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Detective Hobbs succumbed to his wounds. His partner recovered from his injuries.
