Description: Police Officer Hofer was shot and killed while responding to a suspicious person/shots fired call at a local park. As the officers cleared the park, Officer Hofer bent over a creek embankment and made contact with the suspect. Officer Hofer ordered the suspect to show his hands and the suspect produced a rifle and shot Officer Hofer. Officer Hofer's partner returned fire and fatally shot the suspect. Officer Hofer was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
