Description: On August 30, 1865, Patrolman Holmes was shot in the abdomen when he attempted to serve a warrant for stolen property and resisting arrest. Patrolman Holmes was bedridden until his death due to the gunshot wound a month later on September 23rd. The suspect was convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to 14 years and nine months in prison.
