Description: Deputy Hagwood was on his way to assist other deputies in search of a gunman when his patrol car struck a train at the railroad crossing. Deputy Hagwood suffered seven broken ribs, a fractured jaw, bruised kidneys and several other injuries. Deputy Hagwood was transported to the hospital where he remained until his death two weeks later.
