Description: Police Officer Hunt was shot in an exchange of gunfire with striking workers at an aluminum plant. The workers were angry that non-union workers had been escorted through the picket lines to the factory and a riot erupted. The officers attempted to quell the disturbance and the physical altercation escalated to shots fired. Officer Hunt was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and died later that evening. Eleven other officers were also wounded in the incident but survived.
