Description: Lieutenant Hayes suffered a fatal heart attack while en route to assist another trooper apprehend a motorist who was driving under the influence. The motorist was reportedly driving the automobile wildly around the town of Stafford. Lieutenant Hayes' patrol car was found in a ditch with the emergency lights and police radio on. Lieutenant Hayes was pronounced dead at the scene.
