Description: Deputy Sheriff Helbert and Constable W.H. Kelly were shot as they attempted to serve a writ of habeas corpus to four men. Both lawmen were shot as they entered the residence and died of their injuries. The suspect fled the scene but surrendered shortly after. The other three men were also arrested.
