Description: Sergeant Hardin suffered a fatal heart attack as he and his K-9 partner searched a wooded area for two suspects who had stolen gas from a service station. The suspects fled on foot when officers spotted their vehicle. One suspect was caught and the other ran into the woods. Sergeant Hardin and his K-9 pursued the other suspect approximately two miles into woods before he collapsed. Sergeant Hardin was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
