Description: Patrolman Hanley and Chief Bollis Duff were injured in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash while in pursuit of two bandits. The patrol motorcycle skidded while negotiating a curve and struck a tree. Patrolman Hanley was thrown from the sidecar and died of a fractured skull. Chief Duff survived his injuries.
