Description: Town Marshal Hammond was shot as he attempted to rouse a man who had fallen asleep on the railroad tracks. The man awoke, pulled a gun and shot Marshal Hammond twice in the chest. Marshal Hammond died at the scene. The suspect was arrested and charged with murder.
