Description: Officer Hoerauf and Oregon State Trooper Maria Mignano were struck and killed while assisting a family with a disabled van on I-5 near Portland, Oregon. Officer Hoerauf was riding along with his mentor, State Police Sergeant John Burright. While the three officers were standing next to the parked van, a pickup truck suddenly swerved across a lane of traffic and struck the three officers. Officer Hoerauf and Trooper Mignano were killed instantly. Sergeant Burright was critically injured, but survived.
