Description: On July 26, 1916, Police Officer Holmes was shot as he attempted to arrest a suspect for fighting in public. While attempting to arrest the suspect, the suspect produced a pistol and shot Officer Holmes 12 times. Officer Holmes was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries six days later.
