Description: On December 4, 2011, Chief of Police Hicks died as a result of injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash six days earlier when his patrol vehicle slid on a patch of ice and struck a tree. Chief Hicks was en route to pick up an inmate crew when he lost control of his vehicle on an ice-covered bridge which caused his vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a tree. Chief Hicks was transported to a hospital where he remained until his death.
