Description: Patrolman Hults and Patrolman William Gallagher were shot as they responded to a call regarding a kidnapping. As the officers approached the residence, they were met with a hail of gunfire. Patrolman Gallagher died at the scene. Patrolman Hults was transported to the hospital and died of his injuries the next day. Patrolman Stewart McCutcheon was also wounded but survived. Fourteen suspects were arrested.
