Description: Assistant Marshal Hartman and City Marshal William James arrested an intoxicated man for disorderly conduct and took him to City Hall. The man struck Marshal James over the head and escaped. The man returned with a .12 gauge shotgun and fatally shot both Assistant Marshal Hartman and City Marshal William James.
