Description: Detective Lieutenant Heffron was shot twice in the abdomen when a gang of robbers entered a saloon and announced a holdup. Detective Heffron reached for his gun and exchanged gunfire with the robbers. One suspect was killed, one wounded and two fled the scene. Detective Heffron died of his injuries five days later. The two suspects were convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
