Description: Deputy Hensley and Sheriff W. Floyd Ball Sheriff Ball were shot from ambush when they responded to an anonymous call stating that a man was terrorizing citizens along the Mayo Trail. Sheriff Ball and Deputy Hensley were each shot three times from behind. Authorities believed that Sheriff Ball's vigorous efforts against moonshiners was the motive behind the attack.
