Description: On October 15, 1932, Officer Hinson was on horseback guarding 40 inmates in a hay field at the Eastham Prison farm when three convicts attacked him. Officer Hinson was knocked off of his horse, then stabbed and beaten until he was unconscious by the pitchfork-wielding convicts. Officer Hinson died three weeks later. One convict was killed by a posse and the other two were captured.
