Description: Sergeant Hart suffered a fatal heart attack while supervising inmates who were fighting several forest fires in the Adirondacks and Huckleberry Mountain in Johnsburg, New York. Inmate crews from medium and minimum security prisons are often used to fight fires. This particular fire started when lightning struck a group of trees on the east side of Lake George. Sergeant Hart was hiking up the mountain to check on the inmates when he collapsed.
