Description: Officer Herrera was killed when his patrol car was intentionally rammed by a vehicle that was being pursued by other officers. Officer Herrera was off-duty doing paperwork at the police station when he heard the radio report of a pursuit approaching Friona. Officer Herrera joined the pursuit with his emergency equipment activated. The suspect swerved his truck and struck Officer Herrera's patrol unit head-on. Officer Herrera was killed instantly.
