Description: On September 23, 1992, Police Officer Hernandez-Rodriguez, while off-duty, was shot while attempting to stop three robbery suspects who accosted him and his family. One of the suspects identified Officer Hernandez-Rodriguez as law enforcement and then shot him. Officer Hernandez-Rodriguez was transported to the hospital where he remained until his death 11 days later on October 4th. His assailant was convicted of murder and sentenced to 99 years in prison.
