Description: Deputy Marshal Heinrichs was killed by a suspect he was transporting to jail for selling whiskey in Indian Territory. Deputy Marshal Heinrichs took the prisoner home to spend the night before transporting him to federal jail and at 3 am the deputy's wife heard a gunshot. She found Deputy Marshal Heinrichs shot to death in the bed and the suspect had escaped out the window. The suspect was captured two days later and charged with the deputy's death. The posseman who had originally helped Deputy Heinrichs catch the prisoner was also charged when the suspect alleged that he had given him the gun and ammo with which to escape.
