Description: Deputy Howard responded to a shots fired call at a local billiard hall. Deputy Jim Shoemaker was in the billiard hall serving warrant papers to a suspect when the suspect's brother drew his rifle and began shooting. Deputy Howard was shot in the chest and killed instantly as he walked in the door of the billiard hall. Deputy Shoemaker shot and wounded the suspect.
