Description: Marshal Hampton was attempting to arrest a man suspected of stealing clothing from a store. Marshal Hampton pursued the suspect, who had fled on horseback. When Marshal Hampton failed to return, a posse went in search of him. Marshal Hampton's body was found on the outskirts of town with a bullet through the left eye.
