Description: Deputies Helm, Oscar De Vaney and George Terry were returning from Modesto where they had delivered a female mental patient. An oncoming driver suffered a heart attack, crossed the divider strip and crashed head-on into the Sheriff's Department car. Deputies Helm, Terry and the driver were killed instantly. Deputy Oscar Lloyd De Vaney survived.
