Description: Police Officer Howe was killed and Officer Frank Murphy was injured in an automobile crash when their patrol car was struck by a vehicle and overturned. The officers were escorting a burglary suspect back to headquarters when the incident occurred. Officer Maurice Hearne, who was driving the patrol car, was not injured. The motorist was charged with manslaughter.
