Description: As K-9 Officer Hess and Officer David Friederichsen were leaving the home with the woman who called the police, her husband opened fire on the two officers. Although mortally wounded, Officer Hess was able to return fire and kill the suspect. Officer David Friederichsen died three days after being shot, the morning of Officer Hess' funeral. Officer Hess' dog's name was Rex.
