Description: Deputy Sheriff Hart and Sheriff Frank Mattock were shot as they attempted to arrest two horse thieves. Deputy Hart died of his injuries. Sheriff Mattock survived. The suspect was convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
