Description: Sergeant Humphrey was shot and wounded on May 21, 1965 when he and his partner answered a call of shots fired at a residence. The call was later determined to be a prank call. The occupant of the residence emerged with a pistol and shot Sergeant Humphrey several times. Sergeant Humphrey was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries on June 7, 1965. His assailant was charged with manslaughter.
