Description: Patrolman Howard and Captain William Bourland were fatally wounded in a gun battle with three robbery suspects. Officer Howard, who was shot in the neck, arms and chest, died two days later. Captain Bourland died the same day of multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest. All three robbers were wounded and one of them died while still in the car.
