Description: Officer Hutchinson drowned when he responded to an emergency call involving a child in the river. As Officer Hutchinson, who was wearing a life jacket, proceeded to move out onto the dam to search for the child, he lost his footing and fell into the river. Officer Hutchinson was swept down the river and his body was recovered at the Macomb Street dam. Rescuers managed to restart his heart but he died seven hours later at the hospital.
