Description: Police Officer Heinle succumbed to complications from a gunshot wound suffered 11 years earlier. Officer Heinle responded to a bank after receiving reports that a male suspect was attempting to cash a forged check. Officer Heinle arrived, the suspect fled and Officer Heinle pursued the suspect on foot. The suspect turned and opened fire on Officer Heinle. Officer Heinle was shot once in the neck and was paralyzed from the neck down. Officer Heinle died as a result of the injury he received while pursuing the suspect. The suspect was convicted of murder and was sentenced to life in prison.
