Description: Police Officer Hornsby was shot while responding to a disturbance call involving an armed man. The suspect exited his apartment and appeared to be surrendering. As officers approached the suspect to apprehend him, he stepped inside the door, grabbed a rifle and opened fire. Officer Hornsby was shot and killed. A second officer was shot in the incident and survived. Responding officers returned fire, killing the suspect.
