Description: Deputy Sheriffs Hall and A.L. Smithers were shot as they attempted to capture a prisoner who had escaped from the county jail. Deputies Hall and Smithers were fatally shot as they approached the barricaded residence where the prisoner was hiding. The prisoner was convicted of murder and hung from the gallows.
