Description: Chief Hardee died in an automobile accident when he responded to a "be on the lookout" call from a neighboring town describing a speeding and reckless driver coming toward his town. Chief Hardee spotted the driver weaving in and out of traffic endangering others. Chief Hardee, with lights and sirens activated, began pursuit of the driver when his police cruiser collided with a motorist who failed to yield. Chief Hardee died on impact.
